Sandra Dexter is the owner of Sonoma Fiduciary Services and provides professional fiduciary services in Sonoma and Marin counties. Sandra’s professional fiduciary services include trustee, executor, conservator of the estate/person, agent under power of attorney and other professional fiduciary positions.
What to look for in a Professional Fiduciary
- Integrity – They must be someone you can trust to manage large sums of money and other assets
- Strong Moral Compass
- Good interpersonal skills and sensitivity in working with beneficiaries, along with the ability to work calmly with various family members.
- Impartiality – A fiduciary must be impartial among the beneficiaries of an estate.
- Resourceful – While a fiduciary need not have accounting experience or investment experience, she needs to assemble a good team of experts who will provide advise that she can rely on.

The Professional Fiduciaries Act set forth in the Business and Professions Code established the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau to license and regulate professional fiduciary.
Continuing Education
There are continuing education requirements for licensed professional fiduciaries.
Attorneys as Fiduciaries
An attorney who maintains an active license with the California State Bar can act as a Professional Fiduciary and need not be a licensed fiduciary.

Why do I need a Professional Fiduciary?
A professional fiduciary is a good option for people who have no children or relatives living close by. Sometimes a friend or family member who is named as a Trustee, Executor or Agent under a Power of Attorney is not a good person to serve in this role because they are too busy with their own lives, inexperienced or not trustworthy. A professional fiduciary is experienced in the administration of trusts and estates and a neutral third party who will follow your wishes, as expressed in your trust or will. A professional fiduciary can manage finances and assist with daily living activities.
